ANIME EXPEDITIONS FISHING
Every rod, its stats, and how to unlock it — plus what fishing actually pays out. Fishing arrived with Update 2.0 [Summer Siege] and quietly funds half the event: Sand Dollars, capsules, and even a Mythic unit.

HOW FISHING WORKS
Open the fish icon at the bottom-left, stand in any body of water — lobby pools or the pools inside game-mode maps — and cast. Keep your block under the fish icon until the bar fills. Better rods widen the catch window (Control Zone) and tighten steering (Control); Lure Speed shortens the wait for a bite.
ALL 5 RODS — STATS & UNLOCKS
Normal Rod
GIVEN TO EVERY PLAYER AT THE START
Advanced Rod
BUY FROM THE SUMMER SHOP FOR 750 SAND DOLLARS
Same control as the Normal Rod but the fastest bite of the manual rods — the first thing to buy.
Lucky Rod
~1% DROP CHANCE AFTER CATCHING ANY FISH
PASSIVE Every 8th fish caught is a guaranteed Mythic
The rare chase rod — pure RNG. The Mythic-every-8-catches passive makes it the Bestiary finisher.
Recycling Rod
CATCH 100 FISH TOTAL (REPORTED MILESTONE)
PASSIVE Every 10 items sold recycles into a random Legendary+ item
Highest Control in the game — the most forgiving minigame. One source lists it as a random fishing drop instead; the 100-fish milestone is the commonly cited trigger.
Auto Rod
REACH WAVE 150 IN TIDAL SIEGE INFINITE MODE
PASSIVE Skips the fishing minigame entirely — double lure speed, auto-catch
The AFK farmer. Control Zone is 0 because there is no minigame to steer.
WHAT FISHING PAYS OUT
- 01Fish for the Bestiary — 22 reported species spread across five locations (Lobby pools, Coral Kingdom, East Town, and more).
- 02Sand Dollars on every catch — the Summer Siege event currency.
- 03Fishing XP plus milestone XP that fills the event milestone ladder.
- 04Rare bonus catches, up to Mythic fish (guaranteed every 8th catch with the Lucky Rod).
- 05The Sharktooth Conch — a very rare catch in Tidal Siege pools that unlocks the Mythic unit Sharkfang.
Catches fill a 25-level milestone ladder with a reward per level — the Flamingo cosmetic sits at the top.
Fishing also raises your Event Rank; reaching Veteran rank reports a daily currency bonus from standard modes.
THE EFFICIENT GRIND LOOP
- 01Fish the lobby pools with the Normal Rod until you can afford the Advanced Rod (750 Sand Dollars).
- 02Use the Advanced Rod to chase harder fish in Coral Kingdom and East Town for Bestiary progress.
- 03Run Tidal Siege alongside fishing and push Infinite mode to Wave 150 for the Auto Rod.
- 04Equip the Auto Rod and farm hands-free — every catch still rolls the ~1% Lucky Rod drop.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
How do you fish in Anime Expeditions?
Press the fish icon at the bottom-left of the screen, stand in any water (lobby pools or map pools), and left-click to cast. In the minigame, keep your block under the moving fish icon — press to move right, release to drift left — until the progress bar fills.
What is the rarest fishing rod in Anime Expeditions?
The Lucky Rod. It drops at roughly a 1% chance after any catch, and its passive makes every 8th fish a guaranteed Mythic. The Auto Rod is the hardest grind instead — it requires Wave 150 in Tidal Siege Infinite mode.
Can you fish units in Anime Expeditions?
Yes — the Sharktooth Conch is a very rare catch in Tidal Siege pools, and using it awards the Mythic unit Sharkfang. The Auto Rod (Wave 150) is the practical way to farm Conch attempts because it skips the minigame.
What do Sand Dollars do?
Sand Dollars are the Summer Siege event currency. Every catch pays some, and they buy Summer Capsules (100 each, 10 for 1,000), the Advanced Rod (750), and the new units' evolution items (10,000 each) in the event shop.
Fishing feeds straight into the Tidal Siege event — and the evolution items it funds are listed per unit in the unit roster.
